Apple has just finished its virtual “Hi, Speed” event, on October 13. Apple unveiled its latest iPhone 12 series, and as speculated, there are four models this year. Apple launched the new iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max this year. With all the features announced, there is a lot to be excited about the Apple iPhone 12.

The Apple iPhone 12 are first iPhones with 5G. Besides, Apple claims they are the fastest smartphones ever made.

As compared to the three models in Apple iPhone 11 last year, this year, we have seen a new variant named Apple iPhone 12 Mini.

Well, we have heard the word “Mini” before in the Apple products. We are familiar with the iPod mini, iPad mini, and Mac mini. However, it is the first time Apple is using the “Mini” moniker on its iPhone line.

Well, Apple has put all the uncertainty to an end! The good news is – iPhone 12 will have 5G not only in the Pro models but also in the standard iPhone 12 as well as the iPhone 12 Mini. So, despite being small, in terms of speed iPhone 12 Mini is no less to its companions.

iPhone 12 Mini with flat-edged design

The Apple iPhone Mini looks similar to the apple SE and Apple iPhone iPhone 5 in terms of size and design. You can see a similar flat-edged design inspired by the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5. The only difference is that the new Apple iPhone 12 Mini will have Aluminium edges around. The iPhone 12 will have a glass body at the back along with two cameras.

The design will be all screens, meaning that there will be no-touch id. All the models in Apple iPhone 12 range will have Face ID recognition.

Drop Proof Ceramic Display on iPhone 12 Mini

The display glass on the iPhone 12 Mini is coated with what Apple describes as a “Ceramic Shield” for better durability. Apple claims will make the screen more durable, and it makes the iPhone 12 Mini 4 times drop resistant. It is also more water, and dust resistance has also been improved to an IP68 rating.

However, even with an added ceramic shield over the glass, it is still glass and obviously will break. So it is better not to take a chance and invest smartly on a premium iPhone 12 screen protector.

Night Mode Camera

Two of the lower models in the Apple iPhone 12 range – the standard 6.1-inch iPhone and iPhone 12 Mini has two rear cameras, and both of them will now support night mode. The Apple iPhone 12 Mini will feature a 12-megapixel f/1.6 primary camera — the fastest aperture in any iPhone yet — and a 12MP ultrawide. Both the Wide and Ultra Wide cameras now have a Night mode that enables capturing incredible low-light shots. The front-facing camera will also include its Night Mode.

The new Wide camera brings in 27% more light so you can obtain the detail and colour that wasn’t possible before.

The iPhone 12 range also has Smart HDR 3 feature. It balances the elements in a shot, bringing out detail in the subject and trees while retaining the rich colour of the sky. It can make photos feel true to life by capturing texture, skin tone, colour saturation and individual details even in bright light.

The Apple iPhone 12 allows recording 4K HDR video with Dolby Vision. You can edit in Photos or iMovie and enjoy the fantastic experience. It is the first camera ever to record in Dolby Vision.

The Pro models have LiDAR- Scanner and Image stabilization features. The LIDAR scanner will enhance augmented reality experience with its enhanced judgment of depth of an object in the surroundings.

The Apple iPhone 12 and 12 Pro arrive by October 23. However, the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max pre-orders will begin only by November 6. The iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max pre-orders timeline is the same as the pre-orders planned in markets including the US, UK, Australia, China, Germany, and Japan.

Price range

The price of Apple iPhone 12 Mini is 699 $, which the same price for last year’s iPhone 11. You cannot expect a discount for smaller screen size and perhaps Apple iPhone 12 Mini has next-gen 5G. You must also check the website before the order because not all carriers are priced equally. Some carriers charge the Apple iPhone 12 Mini at 729 $ instead of 699 $.

Apple iPhone 12 Mini seems to be an Apple iPhone 12 squeezed into a smaller body. It does not miss out any features of the standard Apple iPhone 12 except it comes in a more handy size. It is also a more affordable version of iPhone 12.

One of the downsides of a smaller iPhone is a small battery. Apple did not disclose the exact battery size, but we can expect 15hours video playback as compared to 17hr video playback time in traditional iPhone 12 and iPhone 11. Similar to other iPhone 12 models iPhone Mini will not have charger and EarPod in the bundled accessories this year. Thus, the iPhone 12 Mini is perhaps the smallest iPhone with huge potential!
